The days of decadence are back, I'm pleased to report.
When I'm not in Roast (which the team would like to see happen more) I have a new base at Morton's. The members are all very jolly with jovial banter between the tables not very London but very welcome as a change from our usual stuffy manners.
I had lunch there yesterday and was lucky enough to follow that with dinner at Le Caprice. (I noticed they had virtually identical menus Octopus salad, pumpkin risotto, Veal Milanese.)
After dinner I took my guests back to Morton's for a nightcap only to find that the same people from lunch were still there. Every single nook and cranny of the place was full of people partying away till the early hours of a school day.
SE1 could do with some more W1 style decadence. In Southwark, nightlife invariably means falling out of a pub and fighting. Not quite the same thing.
